Congregational History

On December 19, 1966, approximately thirty people began meeting in the basement of the Pataskala Town Hall. This was the beginning of the Pataskala church of Christ. These people had been worshiping with the church of Christ in Reynoldsburg, but because they were residents of the Pataskala area, decided to begin a congregation at home. Don Cooper, the minister of the Reynoldsburg church, did the preaching until Bob Black, Sr. came to be the minister for the next four years. Bonds were sold during the next four years to finance the construction of a building.

Three acres were purchased on Black’s Road and the congregation moved into its new building on February 6, 1971. A new addition was built and completed in January, 1983. In the fall of 1985 the parking area was doubled in size and the auditorium was enlarged to seat 300 people. In 2015 another remodeling took place in which the foyer was expanded, a conference room added, a drive under carport was constructed, and the picnic shelter was converted into a garage. From 1971, until the present, the ministers have been Tom Anguish, Ron Adams, Dean Manning, Brad Ault, Bob Adams, Bill Hopkins and Roger Massey. Roger Massey and his wife, Bonnie, have been with the congregation since January 2001.
